Deceased ESP - Esther Dingley found (deceased) in the Pyrenees, missing Nov 2020

Theoretically, this case has wound up, but there are aspects that bother me because they didn't get answered. Let's talk about those.

Essentials:

DC=Dan Colegate, the boyfriend/partner
ED=Esther Dingley, missing and remains found

One of the early details I noticed was that in the "dossier" DC provided early in the case, he had edited out the volume of the backpack ED was said to be carrying. Why would someone do that? IMO there must have been something hinky going on from the get-go that persuaded him the volume of the pack had to be photo-shopped.

The PDF for the entire dossier Dan Colegate wrote is here. The pack is on page 6. The volume of that pack design (Osprey Exos) is just above the lower compartment (maybe just a gray fabric, not a compartment; I forget, and it's quite an old model).That's the usual place for a pack volume. It has been blurred out by an editor.

When something so insignificant is edited, it seems like there must be some reason or other that the editor doesn't want us to know about. But this is a very odd detail to photo-shop. What would DC be about?

The volume of that model Exos may have actually have been on the grey half moon section and picked out with burgundy thread, but it's not there, either. Very curious. The burgundy color does seem to have been smeared, so you're probably right, @She Made Me Do It.

The dossier came not too long after ED went missing? So odd. Who erases a pack volume? What on earth for?

The Pyrenees and Dingley....never left the dark recesses of my mind. All kinds of dead hikers from years back are being found in the mountains these days as glaciers are melting. Like modern-day Ötzis.

Hmmmm...that brings me to... a most interesting thing about Ötzi. He was killed and his death wasn't accidental? There's that bit about the arrowhead.

I was wondering when someone would bring this up....

This case also stuck with me.

I’d like to hear from anyone who knows about the type of terrain and the type of fall they said she probably had.

I always felt those details were very skimpy. But maybe because she was found much later after passing away.
