Trekking pole straps…Yes or no?

I could write a long essay about why DON’T wear trekking pole straps while hiking, but this guy does it for me, on backcountry skiing.

I never hike with trekking pole straps. The baskets get grabbed by rocks and branches and yank my arms.

I’m concerned about people losing their expensive poles over the edge of the Grand Canyon. Of course, I never would: I’m too afraid of heights to go on those trails.
