I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and finally decided to post, because they haven’t found the plane or RC.

Search continues for Tacoma pilot who disappeared from radar

Rod Collen was reported missing last week. His plane is believed to have gone down between Queets and Lake Quinalt.

Glad you posted this. Formal SAR has ended after 2 weeks, but I hope he's found.

Search and rescue crews have been looking for pilot Rod Collen and his 2006 Cessna T182 Turbo Skylane for 13 days, but have found no trace of either.

During the search, they didn’t want public volunteers going into this area. It makes sense that random people might inadvertently attract attention from air searchers.

At least now the formal search has ended, public volunteers can do informal searches. Maybe they’ll have more luck.

Good point. With local teams and personal drones, they might be able to find something, even just a piece.

They resumed the search, evidently when melting snow revealed signs of the plane. Wreckage and remains are now found.

I always get surprised at how hard it is to find downed planes from the air.

Video. It sounds like SAR developed a new hypothesis about where the plane might have crashed, and when they followed up, they found it soon.
